About MATTER

MATTER is the design consultancy founded with printing presses, who then opened a bookstore for designers, revolutionaries, and other thinking persons—and now—offers frameworks for ethics, models for change, and change-thinking for design’s role in the communities where we live and work. We are pro-labor, pro-queer, and pro-body autonomy. We work with organizations and individuals who are values-aligned.
 
We are storytelling and culture. We help the good guys win. You can call us design activists if you like.
 
While we haven’t done it all, we’ve done a lot. We’ve shared our love of design with auditoriums of thousands, created hundreds of brand strategies, designed interior experiences, experimented with large-scale concrete typography for public art, curated national conferences, and created a series of tabletop games with a double-degreed PhD|MD. MATTER is seasoned in experimentation.
 
We are genuinely excited to work with people who are starting something or trying to make a change. This is just a small part of our story. Tell us yours.
